Today's Scripture

“This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”

(John 3:19-21)

Classic Saturday {No. 3}

Today's costume (Edwardian Era - 1901-1910):

 These photos were taken in 2010, when we visited some relatives. My whole outfit is borrowed from my cousin, Marissa. She also kindly french-braided my hair. :) I loved the dress, though it felt like I was going to make it burst (it was a tad too small). It reminded me of something that would be worn on the Titanic. The shoes, hairstyle and hat aren't exactly accurate to the time period, but we were improvising! :D

You are welcome to join in by posting your costumes (one per week) on your blog, then leaving a comment with your link so others can enjoy your outfit. :) You can mix up eras too, if you want. =)

Awkward and Awesome Thursday {No. 3}

  • Hauling a whole bunch of clothing down the stairs, and outside to my backyard--- so I could take photos for this post. Thankfully no neighbors were outside (at least none that I could see)
  • Holding a baby while trying to get a drink out of a water "tank", you know one like this:

  • Going quickly down the stairs in my nicest (really loooooong) dress, and slightly tripping on it. Thankfully didn't fall down the stairs. 8) And yup, we were leaving for a wedding when that happened. :P
  • My little brother talking loudly about something pertaining to church politics-- inside of a church building. Oh, dear. :D
  •  Going to said friend's wedding. It was a sweet, God-honoring ceremony. Sadly, we didn't get very many photos, and the ones we took weren't all that great.
The groom and bride (Erich and Elizabeth E.)

  •  Getting to meet a young lady whom I had met via her blog. She (and her Mom and two sisters) attended the same wedding we did on Saturday.
 Allie M. and yours-truly
My sisters and I got to talk (for like 40 minutes) to Allie and her sister Katrina. We really hit it off, and laughed a lot. =) I'm glad we met them! Oh, and what I am wearing is NOT my nicest dress that I referred to above. I changed clothing after the ceremony and reception.
  •   Going to church with two friends, and meeting their room-mate/friend, Jake. :) Then going to Bible study at some other friends' house and visiting with them and two other families.
  • My "nephew" and "niece" (and their parents) moving back to Texas. They had moved from Texas to Michigan (where they were originally from) back in June. I am so glad they're back!
  •  Playing some epic Ultimate Frisbee and volleyball with a bunch of new (and old) friends on Monday night. =) I love both sports, but espcially volleyball. :)

Autumn Fashion {Outfits Post}

I thought I'd share several outfits that I came up with, using clothing that my sisters and I own. I hope they inspire you--- it is possible to dress modestly but cute too!

Semi-dressy (outfit #1):

Blouse: thrifted (for probably $2)
Tank: thrifted (around $3)
Skirt: thrifted (about $5)
Shoes: thrifted (about $2)

Everything in this outfit but the shoes are Abby's-- the shoes are Phoebe's (I think).

Semi-dressy (outfit #2)

Blouse: thrifted (around $2)
Skirt (same as in outfit 1): thrifted
Shoes: thrifted (for around $2)
Necklace: gift from Grandma
 Belt (not shown in photo): thrifted (about $1.50)

Abby owns everything in this oufit, except for the belt (which is mine).

Dressy (outfit #3):

I forgot to add these in the photo. 8}
Blouse: thrifted (for about $2)

 I was going to do another outfit, but it seems that I deleted the photo (accidentally). :( Oh well, I'll save it for some other time!
