thoughts

thoughts

as we go about life, we need to keep in mind that we are, as 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. we should obey that commandment, not because it's in the Bible and "God said so," but ultimately because of God's character. God is 100% pure. since we are His children (through "adoption"/salvation), we are to have "fidelity to the original." in other words, because we are Christ's children, we must reflect His character by being pure, as salt and light to this dark world. some of you may give the excuse, "well, no one can read my mind." but the Bible says to the contrary. Genesis 6:5 says,

"Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."{italics added for emphasis}

A few other references are: 1 Chronicles 28:9; Psalm 94:11; Matthew 9:3,4; Matthew 12:24,25; Luke 5:21,22; Luke 6:7,8; Luke 11:16,17; Hebrews 4:12.

  i like what our family blog header said: "thoughts and musings...all for God's glory." as the Westminster Shorter Catechism says, "Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever." that means we are to glorify God in every area of our lives-- in our thoughts, in our relationships, in our actions, in our speech.

Proverbs 16:3 promises, "Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established."
